Imo governorship race: WAEC confirms results and certificate of Mr. Uzodinma

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Thursday submitted the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the result report and certificate in the possession of Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma to the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja.

The council acted in response to a subpoena issued by the court to produce and produce documents on behalf of Governor Uzodimma.

The document was prepared in court by Mr. Omifenwa Tajudeen Tunbos, the Managing Director of WAEC Headquarters.

The first of the two documents produced by Tunbos was the CTC of General Education Certificate of the West African Examinations Council of Uzodinma Goodhope Odidika with certificate number SG 904497 dated June 1982.

The second is the CTC of Mr. Uzodinma Goodhope Odidika on the result report dated December 18, 2014, which was earlier forwarded by WAEC to the Senate President’s Office and delivered on January 7, 2015. .

Mr. Tunbos also testified in court that Governor Hope Uzodimma is the owner of the WAEC certificate, confirming that it is authentic and genuine.

The document was subsequently submitted and admitted into evidence by a court headed by Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebaye.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the last Imo State governorship election, Mr Samuel Anyanwu, are contesting Mr Uzodimma’s victory in the election.

One of the reasons why PDP and Anyanwu are contesting the election is ineligibility.

They allege, among other things, that Uzodimma forged WAEC certificates.
