Imo CP deploys special tactical squad to hunt down the killers of Ahiazu Mbaise DPO and Inspector

The Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has deployed the Command’s special tactical squad to hunt down the killers of the DPO and an inspector at Ahiara in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of the state.
The two police officers and a civilian were shot dead in Ahiara Junction on Monday, November 27, 2023.
The attack occurred during the visit of the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Danjuma Aboki, to his officers in Mbaise.
The attackers opened fire on the uniformed police officers, killing them on the spot, while a stray bullet killed a passerby.
Spokesman of the command, Henry Okoye, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, November 28, quoted the CP as saying that “no stone will be left unturned to ensure that the perpetrators of the dastardly act are made to face all the wrath of the law,”
The PPRO added that the special forces were well equipped for the task.
Explaining what happened, Okoye said; “The police officers fought valiantly, but unfortunately the DPO and a police inspector paid the ultimate price in the ensuing gun duel, while two police officers survived the attack,”
“Police operatives led by PC Aboki Danjuma on a confidence building patrol in Ahiazu Mbaise responded immediately and gave the bandits a hot pursuit which forced them to flee with varying degrees of gunshot wounds, abandoning some of their operational motorcycles.
“The Operations were quickly reinforced by the military led by the Brigade Commander, 34th Artillery Brigade Obinze. Intense sweeping of the area is ongoing,”
Meanwhile, he also revealed that a total of 18 suspects were arrested and are currently being investigated.
