IGP announces the passing of DIG Akano

IGP Inspector General of Police has announced the death of retired DIG Abdulrahman Akano, Deputy Inspector General of Police.

According to a statement signed by the PPRO Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Akano passed away peacefully at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.

“Our hearts are heavy with sadness as we extend our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time,” the statement said.

“DIG Abdulrahman Akano served the nation with dedication and distinction throughout his distinguished career, leaving an indelible mark on the law enforcement community.”

The statement said his funeral “will be held in his hometown, Iragbiji in Osun State.”

“The IGP, along with his family, friends and mourners, mourns the loss of an outstanding man, assuring them that our thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate this time of grief. ” he added.
