I tried my best, it is difficult to lead Nigerians - Former President Buhari

Muhammadu Buhari, the immediate past president of Nigeria, said that Nigerians are very difficult to lead.

In his first interview with NTA since handing over power to President Bola Tinubu on May 29, Buhari said he had done his best during his time in office.

But he said it was up to the public to decide whether his best was good enough.

Buhari recalled how he was constantly pressured by critics to “struggle day and night” to live up to their expectations.

“God gave me the opportunity to serve my country, and I did my best. But I will leave it to people to decide whether my best was good enough.

“Nigerians are very difficult. People know their rights. They think they should be there, not you.

“So they’re effectively watching your every step. And you have to work day and night to make sure you’re good enough.”
