Comedian Mr Macaroni lashed out at Christian Twitter users offended by his post calling out a clergyman.
A few days ago, a video of a cleric, Apostle Arome, berating a church for using the platform of a “weird comedian” to advertise a church program went viral. In the video, Apostle Arome said the ‘strange comedian’ whose name he did not mention
”Someone says they want to announce a church meeting. So he takes an obviously weird comedian whose life philosophy is advertising lust in brilliant ways… so you’re advertising a church meeting and because it’s about marketing, it’s about numbers, it’s about tastes, it’s about the online community that can be achieved.. then a church meeting can be announced on a platform that has been built upon an altar of lust.. so when you see the principles that can be employed, then we will know what you are pregnant with. whether it was God who got you pregnant or whether something else was responsible”.
Hours after the video went viral, Mr. Macaroni, in a post shared on his X, called out a “strange pastor” who he said preaches is based on half-truths. Without mentioning any names, Macaroni said the “strange pastor” is pregnant with “lies and deceit.” He argued that he uses his content to teach, inform and educate society. He argued that it’s okay if the “weird pastor” doesn’t see that his content is an imitation of life, but that what he won’t accept is anyone reducing his brand to the limited perversion of his “weird mind.”
Some Nigerians on Twitter immediately criticized him for referring to the cleric as a “weird pastor.” They stated that he was not referring to any person other than Apostle Arome.
Reacting to their criticism, Mr Macaroni apologized to them but added that it would not look good on them. He argued that a pastor can call a comedian “weird,” but the stranger cannot return the favor.
