I hit her head with a wooden stool after she caught me stealing her phone
An 18-year-old boy, Mubarak Akadiri, informed the Ondo State Magistrate’s Court in Akure that he killed his mom’s employer, Sidikat Adamolekun, after she caught him stealing her phone.
The teenager allegedly murdered the 63-year-old retired headmistress and stole her phone at her residence at Arigidi Akoko in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo in November. The suspect is the son of the late director’s maid.
He was later arrested by brokers of the state police command and indicted on Thursday, November 30, 2023, on fees of homicide.
The police prosecutor, Simon Wada, knowledgeable the court docket that the defendant dedicated the crime on November 14, 2023, at about 30:00, in Simiileolowa neighborhood, Arigidi Akoko.

The prosecutor said that the crime committed violated article 319 of the Penal Code, Cap. 37, vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
During the court proceedings, Akadiri, who had no legal representation, confessed that she hit the deceased on the head with a wooden stool after she caught him stealing her phone.
“As usual, I went to work from home and then came back to steal her Samsung phone,” he mentioned.
“Unfortunately, the deceased caught me after I stole the phone. Then, she held me. In an attempt to escape, I used a wooden stool to hit her on the head, but the old woman continued screaming for help. After that, I hit her repeatedly on the head until she fell down and died.”
The prosecutor urged the court docket to detain the defendant at Olokuta Correctional Center pending the opinion of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Ruling, Magistrate Damilola Sekoni granted the request for preventive detention and ordered that the defendant be detained at Olokuta Correctional Center pending the result of the DPP’s opinion and adjourned the case till March 15, 2024, for point out.
