Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has identified key areas he learned from Cristiano Ronaldo to improve his scoring ability.

Haaland has continued to impress for Man City since joining the Premier League champions from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.

The 23-year-old scored 52 goals and provided nine assists in 53 appearances for Josep Guardiola’s side last season, winning the Champions League, FA Cup and Premier League.

The Norwegian has scored 17 goals and provided four assists in 16 games for City so far this season.

Speaking to TV 2 experts Simen Stamsø-Møller and Jesper Mathiesen, Haaland talked about how he learned from Ronaldo to improve his heading ability.

He said: “I remember always watching Cristiano Ronaldo. His movement in the box: he would move two or three times before attacking the space he wanted to be in.”

“In that situation it’s like a duel with the centre-backs.

“It’s important to get the timing perfect. And the post has to be good. If you don’t get a good cross, you can’t score with your head.”

Haaland added: “How he moved and how he was able to develop his game. His first time when he played for Manchester United and then for Real Madrid to become more of a striker at Real Madrid. You’ll remember the years.

“For him, his management is unbelievable. But also how he scores goals. It’s the little movements in the box and being able to deceive defenders.”
