Hundreds of women protest against appeals court’s dismissal of Aba governor

Hundreds of women marched to the Kano State Police Command to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with the recent annulment of Abba Kabir Yusuf’s election by the Court of Appeal.
The women, who held placards and sang songs in support of Mr. Yusuf, said they were protesting the alleged injustices leveled against residents of Kano state by the Court of Appeal.
The protesters who started their march from the residence of former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on Mirror Road peacefully went straight to the Kano State Police Command in Bompai and handed over their protest notes.
However, on their way to Bompai area, they were intercepted by a team of police officers and Nigeria Correctional Service personnel and peacefully escorted to their destination.
The women, most of them wearing red veils, gathered at the Kano State Police Command and demanded a meeting with the Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel.
The placards bore various inscriptions, including “Our mission must be restored,” “Fraud exposed at CTC,” and “Kano voted for Aba.”
One of them, Zuwaira Abubakar, said, “The protests are not for Aba alone, but for Kano state.The world saw that Aba governor was voted in on March 18th.” . The state should not be taken away from him.”
Another protester implored the federal government to stop “interfering with the courts” and ensure justice is done.
