Gunmen kill DPO, Inspector in Imo


Gunmen suspected to be members of the Biafra Liberation Army have killed a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area and an Inspector of Police in Imo State.

It was learned that on Monday, November 27, 2023, the DPO and his men were ambushed at the Ahiara intersection while refueling their commercial vehicles at the BOEK fuel station.

A viral video showed the DPO’s lifeless body, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, lying on the ground as civilians removed the personnel from the operational van.

Meanwhile, over 18 IPOB members suspected of being involved in the killing of the DPO and the Inspector have been arrested by operatives of the Imo State Police Command.

Tactical police led by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aboki Danjuma, responded quickly and are tracking down the suspects.
