Group Surveys for Structured MOU on Immigration of Healthcare Professionals between Nigeria and the United Kingdom

A UK-based diaspora group, the Nigerian Nurses Charitable Association UK (NNCAUK), has called for a structured Memorandum of Understanding on the migration of healthcare professionals between the governments of Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

This was one of the highlights of the gala night for his 25th birthday, where the Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, President/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) was the special guest of honor.

The Association, which is the largest meeting of Nurses and Midwives in the United Kingdom, had as its theme:
“Leading the Future by Influencing Global Health”.

Speaking at the event, the Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa praised the. Nurses and Midwives for their acts of charity and urged them to continue giving back to their homeland.

She expressed optimism that Nigerian healthcare professionals in the diaspora, working with their counterparts in Nigeria, can make Nigeria a medical tourism destination, and not the other way around.

She added that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to improving healthcare facilities and practices in Nigeria and called for greater collaboration through the establishment of partnerships for knowledge exchange, telemedicine initiatives and skills transfer programs.

The NIDCOM chief praised the association for being one of the most progressive
and diaspora-focused groups.

Earlier, the President of the Nigerian Nurses Charitable Association of the United Kingdom (NNCAUK), Wendy Olayiwola (BEM), said they will continue to contribute their expertise through their collaborations with medical institutions in Nigeria, highlighting the need to create more platforms for networking and communication. promote a collaborative environment to share insights and best practices.

Also speaking on another event, the Yoruba Thanksgiving celebration in the United Kingdom, Hon. Dabiri-Erewa appealed to them to continue to project Nigeria positively and join hands with Nigerians at home to make Nigeria better.

The Mayor of Southwark, Mayor Micheal Situ, has commended Nigerians in the United Kingdom and promised to continue to serve the community effectively and efficiently.
