The Kano State government has rejected the Court of Appeal’s explanation that the error in the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgment regarding the state gubernatorial election was a typographical error.
Kano State Attorney General Haruna Dedeli called the Court of Appeal’s explanation “outrageous and scandalous.”
The court had initially declared Nasir Gawna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the election, while removing Governor Abba Yusuf.
However, on Wednesday, the CTC of the judgment was revealed, showing that the court confirmed Yusuf’s victory contrary to the verdict.
The court held that the error in the certified true copy was due to a typographical error.
However, Mr Dedeli appeared on Channels TV Sunrise Daily and said: Does it affect one word? Affect two words?
“Does it affect three words? What effect does a typo have on an entire paragraph? This, as I said, is unacceptable by any clear-minded mind.
“This is outrageously scandalous and unacceptable. We are not satisfied.”
The chief justice confirmed that Mr. Yusuf will challenge the judgment at the Supreme Court and expressed confidence that “the matter will be resolved there.”
Dedeli argued that the CTC in circulation “is the only version we have of the Court of Appeal’s judgment.”
“There is no fixed version and typos in the CTC are unacceptable. Not acceptable,” it added.
