Governor Uzodinma, commissioners and special advisers suspended.
Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has suspended the Commissioner for Lands, Surveying and Physical Planning, Mr Noble Aturegwu.
Mr. Uzodinma also suspended the Special Adviser and Director of Imo State Housing Cooperation Project, Mr. Mbakwe Obi.
The governor said Kombi’s suspension is effective immediately.
Mr Uzodinma’s actions were contained in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Cosmos Iwu.
The statement read: “The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has approved the immediate suspension of the office of the Commissioner for Lands, Surveying and Physical Planning, Mr. Noble Aturegwu.
“His Excellency has likewise approved the immediate suspension of Mr. Mbakwe Obi from SA/GM Imo Housing Corporation.”
The reason for the suspension was not disclosed, but Aturegwu had issues with many communities in Owerri, the state capital.
Aturegwu was accused of taking over land belonging to his family and community.
Some went to court to challenge Aturegwu’s actions and policies.
The suspension comes immediately after Governor Uzodinma was re-elected for a second term.
