Governor Uba Sani hands over 137 rescued Kuriga students to their parents

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani on Thursday handed over 137 rescued Kuriga schoolchildren to their parents.

DAILY POST recalls that shortly after the rally, bandits kidnapped schoolchildren from Kuriga and held them captive in Zamfara for 16 days.

However, troops of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies rescued them and handed them over to Governor Uba Sani at the Kaduna Government House on Monday.

Governor Uba Sani then invited them to dinner at the State House.

On Thursday, the governor along with other security agencies handed them over to their parents.

He wrote on his verified Facebook page:

“Emotions reached a climax when we handed over the released Kuliga schoolchildren to their parents and said goodbye.

“The children have been returned to their families and certified medically and psychologically fit to resume school.

“My children gradually opened up to me and accepted me as their father, and I gave them strong assurances that they would forget about the harrowing experience and focus on their studies.

“In appreciation of the children's courage and resilience, and their determination to continue their education despite horrific experiences, the Uba Sani Foundation will now take responsibility for their education up to tertiary level.”

“The Kaduna State Government will compensate the family of Principal Maru. The amount for Mr. Abubakar, who died in captivity due to health complications, is N10 million and all his children will receive scholarships up to tertiary level. receiving money.

“The LEA primary and secondary school in Kriga will be renovated, fenced and provided with adequate security so that children can resume classes.

“The community of Kuriga will be provided with basic amenities. I have urged the Chief of Defense Staff and the Chief of Army Staff to establish a military base in Kuriga to strengthen security in the region.”
