Cross River State Governor, Prince Bassey Otu, has been tasked with focusing on improving security in the state.
Recent reports indicate a resurgence of kidnapping and other criminal activities in Calabar, the state capital.
Oil magnate Elder Samuel Chukwudi made the call from Zone 6 of the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Calabar.
Chukwudi said, “Governor Otu has stepped up efforts to tighten security in Calabar and some parts of the state as the annual 32-day Calabar Carnival festival is expected to attract more tourists and vacationers. “Efforts must be made because if we don’t, we will continue to have concerns about safety.” To play in the hearts of citizens, visitors and residents.
“Visitors and residents will be very frightened if kidnapping and armed robbery continue to be widespread.”
However, the businessman alluded to the fact that the state government deserves praise for tackling the insecurity head-on in recent months.
