Governor Cefas expresses shock over Taraba killing

Governor Agbu Cefas has expressed deep shock at the gruesome killing of some farmers by suspected Fulani bandits in Taraba State.

The incident reportedly claimed scores of lives and is the latest in a series of troubling acts of banditry in the state.

According to the Taraba State Police Command, the victim was brutally killed while on his way to his farm.

Spurred by the situation, the governor in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Digital Communications, Mr. Emmanuel Bello, on Saturday, urged security agencies to intensify efforts to eliminate all forms of terrorism in the region. requested.

According to the statement, Governor Cefas immediately dispatched the lieutenant governor and top security officials to the scene, stressing the need for immediate and lasting solutions.

The Governor stressed that he will not tolerate continued threats to life under his leadership and accordingly outlined a plan to engage local leaders and stakeholders in addressing the threat.

He unveiled plans to give newly elected local government chairmen the power to strengthen security in their respective areas.

He further said, “Security was a central theme at the recently concluded Northeastern Governors’ Forum meeting, demonstrating a collective approach to the issue.”

Governor Cefas also reiterated his determination to allocate more resources to strengthen the security sector, especially intelligence gathering.
