Fraud charges: PDP demands dismissal and prosecution of Betta Edu

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the immediate removal and prosecution of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Beta Edu, for allegedly looting 44 billion Norwegian National Social Investment Program Agency (NSIPA) funds, including 585.2 naira. $1 million was transferred to a personal account.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, made the party’s position known in Abuja on Sunday.

According to him, the latest fraud charges are the iceberg of what he calls “unprecedented financial plunder, unrestrained resource plunder and resource plunder” that is ongoing within the All Progressives Congress (APC) government led by President Bola Ahmad Tinubu. It was just one corner of the equation, and it effectively brought the country's economy to its knees. ”

“The minister entrusted with public funds to support millions of poor Nigerians brought into poverty by the APC has turned to diverting hundreds of millions of naira meant for the welfare of the poor. Isn't this tragic and heartbreaking?

“Therefore, Beta Edu’s continued retention as minister is provocative and tantamount to stealing from the people and daring him to commit the worst acts.

“This further confirms our party’s position that the Tinubu-led APC government is a den of corruption. A haven for thieves and treasury looters.

“Nigerians are shocked by reports that Betta Edu and the suspended NSIPA National Coordinator, Halima Shehu, were allegedly involved in brazen looting of billions of naira, while eligible Nigerians were deprived of funds. and suffered intolerable hardship and misery,” the PDP said in a statement. the spokesperson added.
