It was gathered that the accident happened when a vehicle heading towards Ugbowo lost control and ran over passers-by, killing four people on the spot and injuring others.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Paul Okpe, confirmed the incident but was unable to ascertain the number of casualties.

He said the vehicle had brake failure and in the process ran over passersby, killing some people and injuring others.

“The accident happened in the morning and before our officials could get there, the Edo State Traffic Management Agency had already rushed the injured to the hospital and deposited the dead bodies at the morgue.

“I cannot determine the number of victims, but few people died and others suffered injuries,” he said.
