Former Nasarawa United forward, Sunusi Ibrahim has expressed optimism about the club’s ability to secure promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League.
The Canadian hitman of the Montreal Impact said this during the team’s visit at Lafia City Stadium on Monday.
Sanusi revealed that he was shocked to learn that his team was relegated to the Nigeria National League last season.
“I am very sad that Nasarawa United has been relegated to the lower league, the Nigeria National League,” he told club media during his visit.
“But I strongly believe that with the players we have here today, the team can get back to the Premier League very quickly.
“I have some teammates who are still in the team and I know their quality and what they can offer the team.
“Similarly, the coaching crew is made up of people who have an impeccable track record as far as coaching is concerned in this country. With government support, too, the team will return to the Premier League.”
Nasarawa United started their NNL campaign with a 1-0 win against Zamfara United last week.
