Former Governor Oni prays at the Ekiti Government House Chapel
In what is being seen as a new phase in opposition politics in Ekiti State, former governor and Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate in the last gubernatorial election, Segun Oni, on Sunday morning to take part. They attacked the state capitol chapel. Sunday service by Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
The former governor, who appeared with his immediate family and political figures, arrived at the chapel in the Ado-Ekiti General Government Building at 9:55 a.m., where he was received by incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebunji. .
Mr. Oni did not attend the special thanksgiving service held on October 22 to commemorate Mr. Oyebunji’s first anniversary in office, but to fulfill his earlier promise to pray with Mr. Oyebanji at the Government House Chapel. He said he attended.
The former governor recalled that his last service at the chapel was on October 15, 2010, the day he was dismissed by the Court of Appeal.
In his address to the congregation, he called on stakeholders of the Ekiti project to cooperate with Governor Oyebunji.
“It’s good to challenge elections. It’s good to challenge the results in court. And then we move on. We should run politics. Politics shouldn’t run us. No. It is time for all of us to join forces with Governor Oyebunji to develop the state,” he advised.
He commended the governor for his continued efforts in ensuring the completion of various infrastructure projects and all abandoned projects including the Ado-Ifaki road.
“I can say he was very impressive. I believe he is a gift to our people and has the perfect calmness to carry us forward.”
In response, Governor Oyebunji said: “Thank you, Your Excellency, for this wonderful visit. I consider this an expression of your love for me and our dear country.” Your coming and worshiping God with us means It shows you love and support our development efforts.
“One of the great things about you is that you love the people of Ekiti and the people of Ekiti love you. You are selfless and live in the hearts of the people.
“Just because I won the election doesn’t mean I’m better than you. It’s by the grace of God. And right after the trial ended, you supported us. .”
Other government dignitaries who attended the service included Deputy Governor Monisado Afue, Speaker of Parliament Adeoye Alibasoye, and Director of Sunday Komolaf Service.
