Follow EFCC lead and support education loan fund – NANS tells other government agencies
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has enjoined other organisations, individuals and groups to follow the lead of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in supporting the Nigeria Education Loan Fund.
The union made the call in a written statement signed by the Senate President, NANS, Mr Babatunde Akintye, and made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday in Ibadan, Oyo State.
DAILY POST had reported that the EFCC had earlier donated N50 billion to support government efforts aimed at funding students’ education.
NAN, reacting to the EFCC’s action, called on other government agencies, private organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to follow the lead of the EFCC and donate to NELT.
In a statement, Akintey noted that many students face significant financial barriers that prevent them from achieving their academic goals.
He, however, noted that the EFCC’s donation to NELF would provide a much-needed lifeline to many indigent students to complete their education.
