FG to sanction employer over indecent working conditions

The federal authorities has introduced sanctions towards employers over indecent working conditions that violate native and worldwide labor legal guidelines.

The Minister of Labor and Employment, Simon Lalon, mentioned this on the launch of the Decent Work Country Program (DWCP) III (2023-2027) in Abuja on Friday.

The DWCP was established to promote employment, assure rights at work, lengthen social safety and promote social dialogue.

The program is organized by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Employment in cooperation with the International Labor Organization (ILO).

Mr. Lalon mentioned the financial system continues to have a severe lack of respectable work, with casual employment changing into the norm, whereas high-wage jobs that present social safety advantages are the exception.

He mentioned employees within the casual financial system are uncovered to poor working conditions, low wages, lengthy hours, low unionization charges and harmful working conditions.
