FG revokes 1,633 mining licenses

The Federal Government through the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development has revoked 1,633 mineral titles previously given to non-performing metallurgical companies.

The Minister of Minerals Development, Delet Alake, announced this on Tuesday, November 21, in Abuja.

He said the licenses of these mineral title holders were revoked for failure to pay the annual service fee of N1,500 per cadastral unit.

He said, “The Mining Cadastre Office has recommended the revocation of 1,633 mineral titles as follows: Exploration License 536; Lake Licence, 279; Small Scale Mining Licence, 787 and Mining Lease, 31

With the powers granted to me by the NMMA in 2007, Section V (a), I approved the recall of 1,633 titles.
