The National Coordinator of the Nigeria COVID-19, Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) Program, Dr. Abdulkarim Obaje, said the federal government is committed to fighting poverty in each state, redressing basic infrastructure deficiencies and improving food security. He said he would help secure and support small businesses. and nano companies.
Mr Obaje announced this on Wednesday during a courtesy call on Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State in Jalingo.
Obaje said: “If the states and the FCT fully support the implementation of NG-CARES, it will increase access to livelihood support, food security services and subsidies for vulnerable households and businesses in the country. ” he said.
“NG-CARES is a Performance for Results (PforR) program under which states and the FCT receive reimbursement of development funds according to agreed protocols.
“Reimbursements are based on results earned and translate into equivalent amounts that are much higher than the amount invested by the parastatal.”
The National Coordinator said Taraba had received only $3.98 million out of the $20 million nominal allocation to states since the inception of the program.
