FCT kidnapping incident: Police commissioner visits affected area to ensure safety

The FCT Police Command has assured the safety of residents of Abuja, especially those residing in Ushafa, Bwari and surrounding areas, as it has deployed additional operatives to ensure that security threats are nipped in the bud.

The command made this commitment after the FCT Police Commissioner, CP Haruna Garba, visited the Bwari Regional Council area where the kidnapping incident was reported and assessed the security situation in the area.

This is contained in a statement by the Command Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Ade.

He warned individuals to avoid spreading unverified information to avoid causing unnecessary panic among residents.

She said: “It is imperative that individuals refrain from disseminating unverified information from the comfort of their homes as it may cause unnecessary panic in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).”

“Instead, we encourage the public to responsibly share relevant information with the appropriate authorities.

“In Bwari, the Commissioner of Police diligently visited all communities in the area on 3/2024.

“During these visits, he interacted with community leaders, assessed the security posture and took proactive steps, including adding personnel and deploying armored police vehicles.

“Despite these efforts, there are concerns about being perceived as inactive.”

She thanked residents for their cooperation and asked them to refrain from sharing potentially misleading or mischievous posts.

PPRO said working in partnership with the police will contribute to a safer and more secure environment for everyone.
