Family chains man to starve to death in Nasarawa on suspicion of witchcraft


The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested Hassan Ismail and Mohammed Sani for allegedly killing their son on suspicion of witchcraft.

Shettima Jauro Muhamed, the state's acting police chief, made this known to journalists during a parade of suspects on Monday.

He said the arrests made last Thursday were based on reliable information that the deceased, Mohamed Sani of Agyalag Tofa, was tied up, kept in a room and starved to death.

His family revealed that he was buried quickly to avoid suspicion.

“Based on reliable information that one Muhammad Sani of Agyalag Tofa was locked in a room with his hands and feet tied, where he starved to death and was hastily buried by his family on suspicion of witchcraft, the police Officials have launched an investigation.” Rafia of A Division swung into action and arrested Hassan Ismail and Mohamed Sani.
