Belgian attacker Romelu Lukaku has surpassed the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski and Harry Kane to become the most goals scored in Euro qualifiers.
The Chelsea loanee hit his 14th shot of the just-ended qualifying campaign on Sunday in the 5-0 win over Azerbaijan.
The former Manchester United star scored an incredible four goals in 20 minutes, from the 17th minute to the 37th minute, taking his tally for Belgium to 14 goals in eight Euro 2024 qualifiers.
In the process, Lukaku broke the joint record held by Northern Ireland’s Lewandowski and David Healy, who scored 13 goals each in qualifying in 2016 and 2008.
He also overtook Ronaldo (10 goals) to become the top scorer in the 2024 Euro qualifiers.
After Ronaldo in the goalscoring chart, France’s Kylian Mbappé is third in the top scorer with nine goals, while Kane has eight.
