Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Takehiro Tomiyasu has suffered a calf injury.

The Japanese defender limped off against Wolves last weekend and missed Tuesday's 4-3 win over Luton Town.

Tomiyasu will spend time on the sidelines as the Gunners' games in December quickly approach.

“I got tested and the news wasn’t good.

“He has a calf injury and will be out for a while,” Arteta said.

Arsenal's thrilling win moved them five points clear and they will face Aston Villa away in their next league game.
