Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Mr Emeka Ozoani has claimed that he is representing billionaire businessman Benedict Peters in an ongoing case at Southwark court involving Mrs Alison Madueke. In a disclaimer released to members of the press, Mr. Ozoani clarified that the contents of the report were inaccurate, false and misleading, and that he did not represent Benedict Peters or anyone else involved in the case. He emphasized that he was not acting on behalf of the company.
Mr Ozoani said he was in the UK by chance and attended the court out of personal interest in a high-profile case involving a former Nigerian oil minister.
He maintained that he had not spoken to or expressed any opinion to any journalist or media regarding the case or its proceedings.
Mr. Ozoani has consulted a British lawyer and is taking the necessary steps to address this harmful publication and protect himself from further damage caused by speculative reporting.
The disclaimer, dated November 5, 2023, refuted the suggestion that Ozoani claimed to have traveled to the UK on behalf of Benedict Peters, stressing that any such suggestion was false and malicious.
