Emefiele regains freedom again
Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has been released from the Kuje Correctional Centre.
Emefiele was released on Friday, December 22, after fulfilling his bail condition. Spokesperson of Kuje Correctional Centre, FCT, Adamu Duza who confirmed this, said;
“I can confirm that he (Emefiele) has complied with his bail conditions and therefore has no reason to remain in our facilities. He complied with his bail condition and was released after 2pm yesterday (Friday).
It would be recalled that a Federal Capital Territory High Court granted bail of N300 million to Emefiele, who is being prosecuted for alleged procurement fraud.
He was granted bail with two sureties of equal value. Sureties must have certificates of occupancy and property titles in Maitama District of Abuja.
Emefiele was also ordered to deposit all his travel documents with the court registrar, adding that he must remain at the Abuja Municipal Area Council.
