Egyptian giants Zamalek are rumored to be linked with a move for embattled Super Eagles coach Jose Peceiro.
According to multiple reports, Zamalek coach is targeting Peceiro to replace the sacked Juan Carlos Osorio.
Peseiro has been under intense pressure as Super Eagles coach thanks to the team’s poor start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Eagles finished with disappointing draws against Lesotho in Uyo and Zimbabwe in Rwanda, earning them just two of a possible six points.
There have been calls for the former Real Madrid assistant coach to be sacked after his poor start to the season.
Reacting to reports of a link with Zamalek’s vacant seat, Peceiro said in a short exclusive chat with Alwatan Sports: “Now is not the right time to talk about all these issues.
“We do not wish to comment at this time. We also decline to discuss these matters specifically at this time. We will respond when we deem it appropriate.”
If Peseiro ultimately wins the Zamalek job, it will be his second stint in the Egyptian league.
In the 2015/16 season, he was the manager of Zamalek’s rivals Al Ahly.
He led Al Ahly to the league title in his only season with the club.
