Court postpones case challenging appointment of EFCC chairman until 2024


The Ibadan Area Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday before Justice Adebukola Olajide of the Federal High Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, Mr Lateef Jamiu Babatunde, Mr Olanipekun Olawale Joseph and Mr Oyetunde Abioye. Three people, including Mr. Ibrahim, were arraigned.

The EFCC’s Head of Media and Public Relations, Mr. Dele Oyewale, disclosed this through a statement published on DAILY POST on Wednesday.

He said the three were charged with three counts relating to conspiracy and misappropriation of 33,360 tonnes of cocoa beans worth N97,578,000.

They were arrested based on a petition, the statement said.

The prosecuting lawyer, Damilare Odemuyiwa, asked the court for a trial date and prayed that the court remand the defendants to the correctional center until the trial date.

However, the defendant’s lawyer, Alabi Ogor, informed the court of the bail application.

Justice Olajide then granted the defendants bail of N10 million each and two sureties of the same amount each.
