The Edo State International Film Festival (ESIFF) is gearing up for its second edition from November 30 to December 2, 2023 in Benin City. The festival received over 3,000 film submissions from over 80 countries, and 486 films were carefully selected.
The Edo State International Film Festival (ESIFF) is gearing up for its second edition from November 30 to December 2, 2023 in Benin City. The festival received over 3,000 film submissions from over 80 countries, and 486 films were carefully selected.
Building on the success of its inaugural edition in 2022, ESIFF 2023 promises to be a vibrant celebration of diverse voices and stories from around the world. Festival Director Violet Okosun expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “ESIFF will continue to be a beacon for filmmakers around the world.”
In addition to film screenings, ESIFF 2023 will host masterclasses and panel sessions covering various aspects of filmmaking. Attendees can look forward to expert-led sessions on cinematography, screenwriting, the business of acting, and documentary filmmaking.
Key government officials including Governor Godwin Obaseki and the Secretary of State for Arts, Culture and Tourism Uyi Oduah Malaka will participate in the panel session.
Prominent film executives such as Mary Njoku, Nnaeto Orazlike and Trevor Pillay will offer their insights, making ESIFF 2023 a hub of learning and networking.
Governor Obaseki expressed excitement over the film festival and the growth of the film industry in Edo State, highlighting his government’s efforts to develop the region as a film production hub. He said,
“The strategy is to ensure the development of Edo as a production center by making it easier for producers to come and work in Edo, making it more convenient and cost-effective. What do you need as a producer? ? You need the ability to manage people and costs.”
