Ahead of the Edo State gubernatorial election, the state’s deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, has vowed to defeat the anointed gubernatorial candidate, Godwin Obaseki.

Mr. Shaibu said he intends to defeat Mr. Obaseki’s anointed candidate because of the support of the people of the state.

He said this while appearing on a TVC program on Monday evening.

Scheibu said, “I will definitely defeat the so-called magistrate candidate. Not because I have power, but because the people of Edo want what is theirs, and I belong to them.” Edokko are imported. I don’t want to. they want what’s theirs.

“The problem I have with the governor is that he has allowed certain people who have an interest in governance to come among us.

“He’s managing it in his own style and the way he feels he can manage it. I’m managing it the way I feel I can manage it too.

“When I say I’m cornered but not suffering, I understand the kind of intimidation and oppression I’ve been through.”
