Ebony and Kleiber discuss FG to resolve dispute

Governor Francis Nwiful of Ebonyi State and Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State yesterday met to resolve the lingering boundary dispute between the two states as the Federal Government takes steps to finalize the boundary.

The meeting between the two countries in Abuja on Monday, hosted by the National Boundary Commission (NBC), was aimed at reviewing the current status of the border and discussing the way forward to define it.

The Deputy Governor of Cross River State and Chairman of the State Boundary Commission, Peter Odey, has expressed the need to complete the peace negotiations between the two states that began in early 2018.

Ebonyi State Deputy Governor Patricia Obila, who led the state delegation, expressed the state’s willingness to embrace peace and end hostilities.

NBC Director-General Adam Adajji urged both countries to work towards peace, recalling that the Commission and the states held a joint meeting in 2010 in an effort to restore peace in the disputed areas of both states. 2011 and 2013.
