Easter: FRSC deploys 570 people to Delta Air Lines


The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) of the Delta State Command has deployed 570 personnel on highways in Delta State to ensure road safety and quality travel time during the Easter period.

The FRSC Sector Commander, Delta Sector Command, Bassey Esiyet, made this disclosure in a statement in Asaba on Friday.

He said the Easter Special Patrol Operation would be carried out from Friday to Tuesday.

In addition to 570 regular and special security officers, 13 patrol vehicles, two ambulances and a tow truck were also deployed, Esiette said.

The division commander said the purpose of the special patrol was to increase the command's visibility on the highway.

He said the initiative was to ensure a reduction in road accidents, fatalities and injuries.

“We will ensure strict enforcement of road traffic laws, prompt rescue and response to distress calls, prompt removal of highway obstructions, etc.

“The command will strategically deploy personnel and logistics to increase visibility.

“Traffic calming and lane discipline will be maintained. 24-hour rescue and recovery services,” he said.

He said the dispatched officers will ensure free flow of traffic and check for speeding, dangerous driving, using a phone while driving, overloading and other life-threatening violations.

He said “other violations such as failure to manifest passengers by commercial drivers, refusal to wear seatbelts, and use of worn or expired tires will not go unnoticed as well.”
