Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has called on agencies to desist from denying members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who were sent for their original mission.
Mr. Bello gave this advice in a message at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch “C” Stream 1 Orientation Course held at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Asaya.
The governor, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Kogi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Ms. Badje Janet, appealed to the employers of the corps members to warmly welcome them and not reject them as they are posted to various offices in the state. It’s also important to treat them like staff so they can do their best.
He explained that the state has a tradition of awarding outstanding performance at the end of their years of service, and encouraged service members to develop the skills they acquired during their orientation courses to earn better rewards after their years of service. explained.
Mr. Bello also advised them to always be security conscious and remember that security is the responsibility of both the government and the people.
“Avoid staying up late and avoid getting involved in the local politics of your host community,” Bello stressed.
He commended the management of the NYSC program in Kogi State and other partner agencies for their good work in making the orientation exercise a success and wished the corps members success in their future endeavours.
Earlier, the Kogi State Coordinator of the NYSC, Pastor Williams Adebimpe, charged the corps members to assume responsibility in their various duties and abide by the rules and regulations of the camp.
She expressed gratitude to Governor Bello and the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development for making the event a success.
