Debunking the bad press about our state – Governor Arya speaks to Benue journalists

Benue State Governor, Father Hyacinth Aria, has said his administration will partner with journalists to inspect several government projects aimed at improving the lives of the people and achieving economic prosperity for the state.

Governor Aliah said this at the banquet hall of Government House, Makurdi, during a visit by the Benue Council of Journalists (CBJ).

He said the tour would enable Benue indigenous journalists working outside the state to acquire the necessary knowledge about projects in the state and the activities of the state government.

Governor Aria appreciated the various roles of the group, adding that CBJ had made a modest contribution towards achieving a better Benue that would not only serve the people of the state but also the development of the entire country.

He called on them to continue to be good ambassadors of the nation and use their good work to counter fake news and media propaganda aimed at sabotaging government efforts.

He called on members of the Provincial Executive Council to use the group’s presence to project the activities of their ministries.

Also, the Benue State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Matthew Aboh, said Governor Aliah was not relenting in his promise to take the state to greater heights.

CBJ President, Dr. Emmanuel Anure, commended Governor Hyacinth Aria for all that she has done for the state and encouraged her to do more.

He appealed to the governor to maintain prompt and timely payment of salaries to Benue civil servants as well as step up efforts to address security challenges in the state.

The CBJ members were guided to several projects within Makurdi City by the Secretary for Information, Culture and Tourism, Matthew Aboh, and his counterpart in the Ministry of Labor and Housing, Mr. Isaac Tiza Imojime.
