The Nigeria Customs Service has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Nigeria Copyright Commission (NCC) to combat intellectual and creative property piracy in Nigeria.
The Comptroller General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adeniyi, disclosed this on Tuesday when he received members of the commission at the Customs Corporation Headquarters in Abuja.
The CGC welcomed the delegation to its office and announced that cooperation between the two countries will create an opportunity for both parties to establish a significant legacy of ending the menace of piracy in the country.
He explained that the Nigeria Customs Service, in collaboration with stakeholders, had concluded a plan to strengthen the program in all aspects through creative activities and training of personnel.
Regarding the need to organize training for service personnel to combat piracy, the CGC said: “This program will equip service officers and personnel with new values and expertise that will enhance their ability and morale to combat piracy. I’ll introduce it to you.”
The Inspector General of Customs expressed his deep gratitude for this cooperation and emphasized how the protection of creative property and intellectual property greatly contributes to the country’s economic growth.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and the Commission’s Secretary-General, Dr. John Asane, expressed appreciation for the continued efforts of the Nigeria Customs Service to combat intellectual and creative property piracy. emphasized its importance.
He said, “Comptroller General CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the idea behind this courtesy call on you was to congratulate you on your appointment and extend a helping hand to eradicate piracy.
“Apart from strengthening the creative skills of officials and personnel in various sectors, the commission will achieve its mandate by collaborating with the Nigeria Customs Service.”
