The Abuja Court of Appeal has confirmed the victory of Abdullahi Sule as Governor of Nasarawa State.
A three-member panel of judges ruled unanimously on Thursday, November 23, 2023, that the Nasarawa State Election Petitions Tribunal erred in law in concluding that Sule, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC ) did not receive the majority of votes cast in the election.
The appeal court later overturned the court’s decision and upheld Sule’s re-election as Governor of Nasarawa State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Sule the winner of the election with 347,209 votes.
David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who came second with 283,016 votes, expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome of the election.
On October 2, the state electoral court annulled Sule’s victory and declared Ombugadu the winner of the election. Dissatisfied with the decision, Sule filed an appeal to annul the court’s decision and confirm his election.
