Court arrests tenant for beating landlord in Abuja

A Kabusa Grade I Area Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of a tenant, Chris Okoye, 44, for beating his landlord.

The judge, Abubakar Sadiq, gave the order on Friday, January 5, 2024, after hearing the defendant's appeal.

The defendant who lives at 2A Niger Avenue, Villa Nova, Apo, is accused of criminal conspiracy, intimidation, force, assault and causing harm.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

The prosecutor, OS Osho, had earlier told the court that the owner, Mr Ochengele Isaac, reported the matter at Apo Police Station on January 3.

He said the defendant, his two sons and Gideon, now at large, beat the owner and inflicted injuries on him.

Osho said the defendant's two sons and Gideon were now at large.

Mr Sadiq adjourned the case until January 16, 2024, for hearing.
