Court arrests 42-year-old man for allegedly defiling and impregnating 11-year-old girl in Lagos

An Ikeja Magistrate's Court on Thursday ordered that a 42-year-old man, Muyiwa Shonibare, be detained for allegedly defiling and impregnating an 11-year-old girl.

The Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubeinje, who did not accept Shonibare's plea, ordered that he be detained at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.

Kubeinje directed the police to send the case to the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

She adjourned the case until April 24, 2024.

Police have charged Shonibare, who resides on Odeyele Street, Agodo Egbe, Ikotun area of ​​Lagos State, with defilement and indecent treatment of a child.

The prosecutor, SP Kehinde Ajayi, told the court that Shonibare committed the crime between August and November 2023.

She said that on a particular day, at midnight in November, Shonibare lured the girl to his house, defiled her and impregnated her.
