Continue to acquire skills after camp - Governor Fintiri urges troops

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has urged the youth corps to complete post-camp training on Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) in view of the job market situation.

He made this announcement on Tuesday during the official closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream I Orientation Course in Giray Local Government Area.

The governor, through his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, said this would not only help find but also create jobs.

He said, “I am particularly pleased to learn of the new collaboration between NYSC, NNPC and Industrial Bank to train youth corps members in financial literacy.

“I am also pleased that a grant of N10 million will be made available to those who successfully pass the necessary stages to set up their own business.

“This is a great opportunity to achieve financial independence and freedom.”

Mr. Fintiri further advised NYSC members to respect customs and culture and make constructive contributions to the development of host communities.

He called on those deployed to primary and secondary schools to view their postings as a prestigious and wonderful opportunity to support young children and urged them to accept their assignments wholeheartedly.

Fintiri warned employers not to reject youth group participants assigned to their facilities.

In his speech, NYSC Coordinator for Adamawa, Mr. Zingi Dennis, thanked Mr. Fintiri for his “love and passion for the NYSC program”.

He encouraged the young corps members to maintain the work ethic, perseverance and patriotism they learned through the orientation course.

It added: “In this regard, I would like to remind you of the oath of allegiance you pledged to accept your submissions in good faith.

“I urge you to perform your duties diligently and in accordance with the provisions of the NYSC Act and Bylaws, as well as the rules and regulations of your workplace.”
