Comedian Rob Schneider is increasingly speaking out about his faith and emphasizing the importance of leaning on God and forgiving others.

“Jesus only lets you go astray so many times,” Schneider recently told CBN News about his decision to re-embrace the faith he once found as a teenager. “At one point he grabbed me again and hugged me.”

The “Saturday Night Live” alum, who stars in a new Bentkey cartoon “Chip Chilla,” went on to describe what he sees as an inherent beauty of Christianity — a faith that he says is based in true goodness.

“There are other religions out there that say, ‘Well, kill your enemy; “Hate your enemy,” Schneider said. “And we have a religion that says, 'Love your enemy, love your neighbor as yourself… love others.' What a beautiful way to go through life.”

The actor thought about it a now viral X post from November in which he apologized for past unforgiveness, particularly around COVID-19 and his anger at how his colleagues had handled the issue.

“There were people who made me very upset,” Schneider said, citing examples of celebrities’ strong stances on vaccinations and other related issues. “I had to find out what was behind this anger.”

Reflecting on how some progressive celebrities have dealt with COVID-19, Schneider said he had to ask himself where the forgiveness was in his own heart, explaining that he now knows that he can't always “interpret what other people are saying.” feel”.

Given that fear drove the response to COVID so strongly, he now expresses his criticism of other celebrities in a lighter tone.

“If I want to live my life and be an example of what Christ compels us to do, then I have to do it,” Schneider continued. “Even if it hurts, even if it stretches what I used to feel… and once you forgive, the beauty of forgiveness… is that you end up feeling better.”

The Animal star's return to faith is notable as he recalls being so committed to Christianity as a teenager that he “dreamed of Jesus Christ.” However, over time he drifted away.

“Like many Christians, I lost my way,” said Schneider. “But there was a continued withdrawal because I knew where I needed to be and needed to be home.”

He continued: “And then [a] very, very strange coincidence of things. I married a Catholic and she was very patient with me and she was the best thing that ever happened to me.”

This factor, coupled with a project on the Shroud of Turin and other events, led Schneider to reflect deeply on his faith roots. In the end, he said he couldn't ignore it any longer.

“As Jesus does, He is a little nudge, a little nudge, a little nudge,” he said, explaining how he believes God wants every person to inevitably come to Him. “God could lay down his hand and create anyone [love Him], but God wants us to come to Him on our own initiative. This is the greatest gift.”
