COAS pays condolences to Chris Ali's widow

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taolid Lagbaha, paid a condolence visit to Mrs. Dorothy Chris Ali, widow of the late former Chief of Army Staff, Major General Chris Ali, at her Osborne Foreshore Estate residence in Ikoyi, Lagos State.

General Lagbaja, accompanied by senior officers of the Nigerian Army, today paid a condolence visit to the widow of the late Chief of Army Staff, who also served as the National President of the Nigeria Association of Army Officers Wives (NAOWA). as other members of the family.

During the visit, the COAS said General Ali’s death was a shock and a huge loss not only to the Nigerian Army but also to the entire Nigerian Army and the nation at large. He praised the achievements of the late CO.A.S.
He described him as an astute, forthright and far-sighted military leader whose significant contributions to the development of the Nigerian Armed Forces and the defense of the nation will remain indelibly in the institutional memory of the Nigerian Armed Forces. .

He disclosed that the Nigerian military would work with the family to provide a proper burial.

General Lagbaha assured his family of the support of the Nigerian military whenever the need arises.

On behalf of the family of the late COAS, Army Captain Shuaib Sarawana expressed his gratitude to COAS and the entire Nigerian Army for their timely condolences and consideration to the family of the deceased.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a bouquet of flowers to his widow and the signing of a condolence book in memory of the late COAS.

Recall that the former Chief of Army Staff of the Nigerian Army, Major General Mohammed Chris Ali, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, November 19, 2023, after a brief illness at the Lagos Military Hospital. All formations and units of the Nigerian Army across the country are currently commemorating the late Army chief for three days by flying the Nigerian Army flag at half-mast and wearing black belts.
