Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taolid Raghbaha has declared a three-day mourning period in memory of the late Major General Kris Ali (retd).
The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, said in a statement that General Ali was a former Chief of Army Staff who passed away on November 19, 2023.
All formations and units of the Nigerian Armed Forces have been instructed to fly their flags at half-staff as a symbol of collective mourning and respect, the statement said.
“The directive also requires all personnel to wear black handbands in memory of the late COAS,” the statement further added.
The report said General Ali dedicated his life to serving the country through the Nigerian Armed Forces with unyielding dedication and professionalism to protect the country.
It added: “The Nigerian Army stands in solidarity with the family, friends and loved ones of the late Major General Chris Ali at this time of grief.”
The Nigerian Army has charged all its members to strictly adhere to these instructions “as a sign of honor and respect for our fallen hero,” and said the mourning period is an opportunity for everyone to “reflect on his exploits and the sacrifices made by our brave hero.” Soldiers defending our beloved country. ”
