Christmas: FRSC warns passengers against night travel
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has warned passengers against traveling at night during the Christmas season due to the potential impact.
The Katsina State FRSC Sector Commander, Mr. Ibrahim Mayyaki Bazama, gave the warning at a press conference in Katsina on Friday.
“People have freedom of movement, but we as road safety forces have a duty to take steps to minimize road accidents.
“As part of these measures, we are encouraging people to cancel or minimize their overnight travel.
“This is because when motorists drive at night, they cannot see beyond the range of their vehicle’s lights.
“When an accident occurs, rescuers may not be available right away, or it may take some time to find someone to help,” he says.
Maiyaki Bazama also said the command center has a rescue team on standby in case of an emergency.
He said the team was located in five command centers: Fantua, Daura, Koza, Malmfashi and Kankia.
