Christmas: FRSC deploys 1,144 people to Ondo

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ondo State Command, on Saturday announced the deployment of 1,144 personnel across the state to ensure free movement during and after the Christmas season.

The Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr. Ezekiel SonAllah, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

SonAllah explained that 588 regular security officers and 556 special security officers were deployed to minimize road accidents during the Christmas period.

According to the department's commander, the FRSC works closely with the private sector through public-private partnerships to quickly recover vehicles that may break down on highways and prevent road accidents.

The corps added that it has deployed personnel to accident-prone areas.

He told NAN that the command was working in close coordination with other security agencies and transport unions to ensure that no accident was recorded during the investigation period.
Therefore, SonAllah said, “Only the living can celebrate,” and called on motorists and the general public to abide by traffic rules and regulations to prevent accidents.

“Commercial drivers are required to have speed limiters installed in their vehicles.
“There are no duplicates in life, so if we see commercial drivers driving without a speed limiter installed on their vehicle, we will arrest them.”

“Therefore, I would like to ask all road users to always be conscious of safety when using expressways.”
“Moreover, road safety is everyone's business. We all have to work together to avoid accidents on our roads,” he said.
