Cross River State Education Commissioner, Senator Stephen Odey, on Thursday ordered the arrest of the students involved in the bloody riot.

Some male students of JSS 2 of a public secondary school in Ikot Ansah Calabar City invaded the school and attacked other JSS 3 students who allegedly masterminded the punishment of the underclassmen.

The attack, which occurred in the morning, resulted in injuries and insolence of some students, school facilities, and teachers.

Officials said the chief had seen the video of the bloody attack and rushed to the school to prevent further damage.

Students, mostly boys, were seen beating themselves with boards, sticks and small irons, while teachers and other girls were seen screaming and running for their lives.

According to school officials, the chief called the branch police officer of the Federal Housing Estates Police Station, CPS Innocent Ayabotu, and instructed him to mobilize his men to quell the fight among the students and apprehend the culprits.

He called on the DSS and other relevant security agencies to intervene in the unrest as well.

He said that as a result of the investigation, the students responsible may not be allowed to attend other secondary schools in the state.

Meanwhile, the DPO announced that it had identified some of the organization’s executives from the video.
