Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) on Thursday admitted that its facility was blocked by protesters in Ugborodo community in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.
CNL General Manager for Policy, Government and Public Affairs Esimage Brikin confirmed the report in a statement published on DAILY POST.

Mr Brikin said the protesters were demanding the renaming of the Warri Kingdom Onshore Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) and involvement in the appointment of additional individuals to HCDT’s Board of Trustees (BOT). added.
“Additionally, they are requesting the mobilization of community workers for EGTL Turnaround Maintenance (“TAM”) activities. ”
Mr Brikin asserted that CNL operates in strict compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
“CNL is committed to operationalizing HCDT in compliance with the Petroleum Industry Act 2021 (“PIA”).
“CNL continues to work with stakeholders, including community leaders and traditional rulers in Ugborodo, towards the operationalization of the HCDT.
“CNL is also committed to ensuring the participation of local workers in the EGTL TAM in line with the workforce mobilization plan,” he added.
Mr Brikin further said that to ensure a peaceful holiday, CNL is working with protesters, community leaders, traditional rulers, HCDT BOT, Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and the Delta State Government.
