Chan denies recommending Governor Mutofan to resign
Former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang has denied advising Governor Caleb Mutofan to resign from the governorship. Chan denied the allegations in a statement by media consultant Clinton Garba in Jos yesterday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a media report attributed to one Bruce Deme claims that Chan advised the governor to resign and make way for Nentawe Yurwatoda of the All Progressives Congress (APC). It was reported that they were doing so.
However, Mr Chan, who served two terms as Plateau State governor, said the allegations were false and were simply made up to distract from the good work Muthofan had started in the state.
He said: “One could even imagine that Mr. Chan would even think of advising Mutofan, who is trying to take Plateau’s governance standards to a new level, to hand over power to someone for whom Plateau residents did not vote. is irrational,” he said. It is said that the APC is bent on seizing power through the back door, but we believe that the God who never sleeps will not allow us to return to our dark days.

The elder statesman also expressed rude shock at the recent Court of Appeal decision that removed Mutfan and some MPs from the Plateau.
Mr. Chan described the ruling as a “miscarriage of justice” and asked the Supreme Court to consider the merits of the lawsuit with a view to overturning the ruling.
“Like any well-meaning democracy enthusiast, I cannot understand why the appellate court would issue a decision contrary to the 2023 Election Act and other cases the Supreme Court has already decided. “I believe this was a miscarriage of justice. However, I believe strongly in the judiciary, and I believe that the Supreme Court will reverse this injustice,” Chan said.
